Start with the trip length

If you stay only a few days, offline brand stores and hotel-nearby malls are usually more reliable than app delivery.

If you stay one week or longer and have a stable hotel address, shopping apps become more useful for price checking, local delivery and product discovery.

Realistic channels

JD is useful for electronics price checking and fast delivery, but account, payment and address setup can still be friction for visitors.

Taobao has huge selection but higher language, seller-quality and delivery-address friction.

Meituan and Dianping are better for local services, restaurants, nearby stores and sometimes same-city delivery rather than serious cross-border shopping.

Brand mini-programs and official stores can be safer when warranty and authenticity matter.

Payment and delivery issues

Foreign cards linked to Alipay or WeChat Pay may work for many offline payments, but app checkout can still fail depending on merchant category and verification.
